Break your sugar addiction in 10 days
Do you have a sweet tooth? Most of us will overindulge at times. But the more sugar we consume, the more we want. It’s an addiction and sometimes it’s considerably hard to break! The average adult consumes approximately 22 teaspoons of sugar a day, when experts recommend we only have 5 (for a woman) and 9 (for a man). Children should only consume 4 teaspoons a day, when on average they consume even more than adults!
If you are to cut sugar out of your diet, it’ll also benefit you in other ways. Such as having less acid reflux, less migraines, less joint pain, reduce stress and anxiety and so much more. Less sugar in our diet leads to a more healthy and happy body. We all know the basics facts about the damage sugar can do, but the good news is that you can easily break your sugar addiction in just 10 days. Here’s how.
First things first, make the decision to complete this 10 day detox. Once you’ve committed, you’ll hopefully follow through with it. This lifestyle change will reset your mind and body and leave you feeling much healthier.
Simply stop all forms of sugar. Don’t ease yourself out and have a little less here and there, just altogether stop!
Be sure not to drink your calories instead. No fizzy drinks or sweetened teas and coffees or sweet juices. (Green vegetable juice is a good substitute!)
Add protein to your emails. This could include eggs, nuts, seeds, fish, chicken or grass-fed meets.
Eat the right carbs
Eat only non-starchy vegetables. For example asparagus, green beans, mushrooms, onions, fennel and peppers.
Include good fats
In each meal include fats such as nuts, seeds, avocado and fish. These offer omega 3 fatty acids.
Manage your stress as when you are feeling stressed your cortisol shoots up, this will drive up your hunger and could lead you to eat sugar.
Quit gluten and dairy
After a few days of quitting gluten and dairy you’ll have less cravings and more energy.
Sleep is so important for good health. It’s also important as if you get less than 8 hours a night it increases your hunger, which could in theory turn you to sugar!
Remember that this 10 day detox will help you stop the cravings! It’s not here to make sure you never eat a single cupcake again, but it’ll allow you to have more control over your diet and feel healthier and happier in return.
